I’m intrigued. What’s she up to?

Disclaimer: This is not a blog. This is a fun placeholder I’m using for blogs to come. For instance, I may use this page to collect research for my blogs. Or when I’m deciding which article I’ll finish drafting and publish next, I may like to take a poll to learn which you’d like to see first. You’ll know the poll is ready once I update this title. Hope you’ll indulge me 🙂

For now, enjoy this placeholder jibberish that means absolutely nothing, but is fun and makes me smile (and drool a little):

Brownie coffee cake jelly. Gingerbread cheesecake candy canes powder muffin ice cream tiramisu icing. Pudding chocolate bar icing oat cake topping croissant. Caramels gingerbread sugar plum butterscotch soufflé jelly-o bonbon. Apple pie cinnamon bar marshmallow croissant marshmallow gingerbread cupcake biscuit. Sweet potato icing cake tootsie roll caramels. Chupa chups gummi bears peanut m&ms. Pastry cotton candy wafer marshmallow banana tart toffee bear claw candy. Macaroon powder jujubes biscuit danish marzipan croissant icing lemon cake. Berrie crust cake tart.

Yummy, right?!

#3 – ding ding ding! This is always a tricky one for me; finding ways to tamp down the directness, keep my “face” in check and be kind all while trying to get ‘er done with the weakest links w/o being a jerk 🫣

🙋🏻‍♀️#1 and intrigued by #2 as well… more so for my daughter. She goes through an absolutely terrible time during her time of the month… sometimes to the point of making her ill and confined to her bed …It makes me think ahead when she does have a job someday, how will she cope with that.

I think all 3 of your ideas are compelling however, I have another idea. I would really love to see a piece on DEI and the impact this upcoming presidency is having on it. Every day it’s another company in the headlines pulling their DEI initiatives. Last week it was Sam’s Club. This week it’s Meta. I know all of it is purely political. Even when companies were piling on the initiatives 5 years ago, I believe it was mostly optics.

I don’t think people really understand what DEI is. White people (yeah, I know, not all) think it means, filling a quota that will result in them losing an opportunity to someone unqualified. And if you try to correct them, the response is always something to the effect of, “you won’t feel that way when you keep getting rejected from jobs and promotions to make room for the diversity candidate?”

You and I know that both of those extremes are hyperbolic at best. I’m currently job searching. Believe me, I NEED the opportunity! I need to stay relevant and in the best fit role for me. But I don’t think DEI is standing in my way.

I’m not claiming to be an expert, but I do know that some very privileged people are willfully blind to what DEI really is (spoiler alert: it’s selecting the best qualified candidate from the entire pool of people, not just the white boys in the front row). They’re quick to complain about “a black person getting the job who isn’t as qualified,” but they have no memory or regard for decades of white people who got the job and weren’t as qualified (in some cases weren’t AT ALL qualified). It was ok when we simply exempted women and minorities from financial opportunity, but now the idea that we should make a point to undo that is an outrage.

Something’s wrong. I know I simplified it here and I admit to not having all the answers. I don’t mean to put the burden on you. It shouldn’t be your burden. But since you asked (well sorta), I would love to hear your thoughts on this topic, not because it’s your responsibility to address it, but because your opinion matters. Thanks, Erin!

Michele, hi! I love how passionate you are about DEI—it’s definitely a thread woven through everything I write. But when it comes to the political climate, I try to stay in my lane and keep my focus on character-building, faith and how to help organizations thrive. I respect your perspective and really appreciate you trusting me enough to bring this idea to the table 🙂 It’s just a bit outside the scope of what I’m exploring right now (at least for this piece!)

I can absolutely understand why you’d want to explore this, though—it’s such a complex and timely topic. You’ve got a strong perspective on it, and maybe this is something you could write about yourself? Your voice definitely matters here, and I bet people would really connect with your take on things.

I do wish I could’ve gotten your vote for this round, but I really appreciate you engaging and sharing your ideas. Keep ’em coming, and feel free to drop more thoughts anytime!

Thank you, Erin! I completely understand you’re position. I’m glad I asked just the same. It’s good to have the channels open for this kind of conversation. I should have also added in my vote. I got too caught up in my DEI thoughts. I’ll be sure to weigh in on the next one. I look forward to your new posts. Thanks for doing what you do.

#1 for me! A really good friend of mine who recently, actually gave me some great advice- somewhat surprisingly but that’s neither here nor there but she mentioned empath and went real deep with it and I would be very interested in which direction you would go with empathy. I can’t wait for the results 😅
